Steve Papai, 87, of Wakeman, passed away on March 26, 2016 at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion. He was born on March 10, 1929 in St. John, MI and has lived in Wakeman since 1970. Steve Papai, 87, of Wakeman, passed away on March 26, 2016 at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion. He was born on March 10, 1929 in St. John, MI and has lived in Wakeman since 1970. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was diesel mechanic for the former White Star Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and gardening. He was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Lorain. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Edith (Meyers), his five sons, Christopher (Rosa), of Wakeman, Steven, of North Ridgeville, Daniel (Tammy), of Wellington, Jonathan (Janice), of Pendleton, KY, Paul, of Wakeman, a foster-son Larry (Emmy) Cancel, of Wakeman, 20 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brothers Louis and Charles Papai, both of Wakeman, sisters Goldie Harbaugh, of Amherst, and Julia (Geo) Justice, of Vermilion, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Margaret (Teramie) Papai, and two brothers, Alex and James Papai. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until the time of services at 7:00 pm at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Pastor Peter L. Toth will be officiating.
