Oscar Edison Carty, 87, of Berlin Heights, passed away on May 6, 2016 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. He was born January 23,1929, in Coeburn Virginia to Willard and Nannie (Large) Carty. Oscar Edison Carty, 87, of Berlin Heights, passed away on May 6, 2016 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. He was born January 23,1929, in Coeburn Virginia to Willard and Nannie (Large) Carty. He was married to his wife of 68 years,Eutha (Payne) Carty, and together they had two children a son Sheldon who passed away as an infant and a daughter Sandra (Carty) Millis. Sandra along with her husband Rick Millis gave him two grandchildren, Jessica Maynard and Ryan Millis and four great grandchildren Zack Flory, Brandy Flory, Brady Maynard and Isabella Maynard, that he called "His Babies". He served in the US Army and was an avid outdoorsman. He retired from General Motors-New Departure. He attended Faith Memorial Church in Sandusky. Over the years in the church he served in many positions from Sunday school teacher to the Church Board. He had a real soft spot for the children. One of first students he led to the knowledge of the Lord was the late Rev. Ricky Walters, Pastor of Victory Temple and founder of Victory's Soup Kitchen Ministry. Survived by two brothers, Bernie Carty and wife Ella Mae and Herley Carty and wife Elsie, both of Berlin Heights, a niece Denise Zielske of Vermilion and nephews Clark Carty of Brunswick and Danny Carty of Berlin Heights. Preceded in death by Parents Willard and Nannie Carty, a son, Sheldon Carty, brothers Hubert Carty and Buford Carty, nephews, Verlin Carty, Charles Carty and a niece Marcella Carty. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 at the Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights. Services will be held on Tuesday at the Faith Memorial Church, 1320 East strub Road, Sandusky. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ken Hiser will be officiating. My dad, Frank Dallas Large, was Oscar's first cousin. I was so sorry to see this posted on fb. Sadly our families move on and we don't always know about them. I spent many days with Aunt Nanny and Uncle Willard, especially cherry picking season. May God bless and keep you as you allow Oscar to return to the place He prepared for us.
